    This app introduces 238 species, that can be seen in Finland and in Scandinavia. 145 species have sounds included. Birds are ordered by family. You can also search by name. You can choose which language to use: Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, German or English.

    Most of the images are from "Svenska fåglar" ("Swedish birds") made by Magnus and Wilhelm von Wright (source: The National Library of Finland). You can zoom the images. Bird names are in Latin, English, Swedish and Finnish. There are also links to Wikipedia, NatureGate, Bird Atlas of Finland and xeno-canto bird songs (touch disk icon).

    145 birds, like Thrush Nightingale, Common Blackbird, Willow Warbler and Common Chaffinch, have a play button in the title bar, because they have sounds included. Please see demo video on support site.

    Each bird has its own species screen, a 'one-stop-shop' for facts, images, distribution map, songs and calls, plus a link to Wikipedia. Here you can mark a bird as 'seen' and make your own personal notes about it.

    And for those odd spare moments, tap one of the random birds on the menu screen to learn new bird facts!

    What's New

    The Bird Guide has a completely new look with fresh, bright artwork by Marcello at Wrinkly Pea Design. It also includes 18 new birds, mainly sea birds such as the Puffin and Guillemots, and also some other common birds including the most common waders. Further waders will be added in the next update.

    Date and location can now be added automatically to sighting notes, making it matter of a couple of quick taps to note a new bird out in the field.

    The Feature section of the Bird Finder has been expanded to include features such as eye stripe, eye ring, crest and long tail.

    Coming next: The next update is already well under way and will include a further 24 waders, plus a robust back-up system for saving personal notes and 'seen' birds list.
